‘ZRP human resource development vital’

Source:[Zimbabwe Herald] Time:[GMT Nov 10 2009 5:36AM]

HUMAN resource development is vital for any dynamic organisation and a priceless endeavour that should be continuously cultivated and nurtured by the police, a senior Government official has said. Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, said Government was fully behind the police’s determined efforts to develop its human resources to foster meaningful and sustainable change in policing. He was speaking recently at the Police Staff College graduation ceremony in Harare. 'With the broadening and deepening sands on policing terrain, the insatiable quest to constantly and consistently develop the operational, managerial and administrative faculties of police officers has now become increasingly more crucial than ever,' he said. 'Thus, the paramount demand, particularly for the ZRP as one of the most visible arms of the State, is to exhibit impeccable integrity and professionalism anchored on a sound and robust capacity building programme.' Dr Sibanda said it was certain that staff developing remained a key component in enhancing the preservation of peace and stability. He said the ZRP’s endless pursuit to offer quality services had seen it establishing various institutions of tertiary learning such as Professional Updating Centres, Open Learning Centres, the Buchwa Training Centre and the Police Staff College. ' . . . these vital establishments afford not only members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police but also staff from other Government departments, the rare platform to develop skills and acquire much needed professional qualifications,' he said.
